Art Deco: Revolutionizing Art Throughout Time Art Deco

Art deco plays an importantly lavish role in the field of modern art.
Art deco, characterized by its strong, poignant colors and full, sweeping curves has earned this design its brazen trademark, which highlights the much-evidenced progress and advances of the twentieth century.
All over the world, online and offline art auctions showcase different and fascinating art deco pieces and designs, some even dealing exclusively with it.

The term ‘art deco’ was borne out from the Exposition Internationale des Arts Decoratifs et Industriels Modernes, a world fair held in Paris, France in 1925, but it was only in the late 1960s that the term gained wide acceptance.
It was not just long ago when the decorative arts fused into what is now called as the art deco movement, spreading far out across to revolutionize fashion, architecture, visual arts and many more.
The art deco movement inspired and was inspired by different cultures, including the rapid technological and societal shift in the early twentieth century.

The art deco style is popular for its rich, foodie flair that highly features culture of austerity in pre-world war 1 age.
Strong patterns and motifs as well as brazen colors and shapes were used to define art deco pieces.

Generally, art deco is considered to be a diverse type of decorative innovation that was inspired by different artists and art forms.
You can capture art deco influences in clocks, furniture, glasswork, metalwork, paintings, screens as well as other fine artworks and pieces.
For instance, the sunburst motif, an art deco form, was used in practically all designs such ranging from the Radio City Music Hall, ladies’ shoes images, Chrysler building’s spire as well as other art, architectural and fashion pieces.
Other motifs in art deco were chevron patterns, stepped forms, sweeping curves and the zigzag.

However, in the west, art deco lost its heat during World War II but was still used in colonial countries like India in the 1960s, serving as an entry point to Modernism.
In the 1980s, art deco then returned with a vengeance in graphic design.

Art deco is one of the most popular art movements.
This can be attributed to its diverse base of inspirations and inspired art forms and cultures.
And while people today may have differing opinions about this type of art movement, art deco has, no doubt, contributed so much in art history, and it will always remain a part of that, and perhaps, it will be here to stay.
